I attended Constantia Kloof Primary School and this is where my grounding in art was formed by the guidance and knowledge of school principal and teacher, Mr Barry Kidson. At the age of 12 in 1989, my art was entered into the West Rand school art competition. I was awarded first prize for a ‘still life’. My art was then selected for the exhibition of best work of art from Transvaal schools in the State Theater, Pretoria.

At the end of the following year I was awarded the Kidson trophy and announced art sudent of the year. During 1990 I realized that I wanted to study further at the Art and Drama School in Braamfontein.  I attended ABDM for one year and one term. I moved on to attend West Ridge High School where I matriculated in 1995. During my four years at West Ridge my art was selected for the Provincial Exhibition in 1992. At the end of 1995 I was awarded a silver certificate for art.

In 1996 I had the pleasure of selling calendars that were created by artists such as Chris van Rooyen, who is an established wildlife artist and photographer. This is where my dream of joining my passion for wildlife and birds to my art came alive even more. I worked for the Wildlife Society for the year of 1996, after which I decided to study further and increase my knowledge of art.

In 1997 and 1998 I completed a two year Art Diploma through Roodepoort College. I obtained a distinction in both Graphic design and printing. I was then accepted for a graphic design position  in the clothing industry.
 
I have had a successful career being involved in design and clothing design for various well established high fashion and corporate clothing companies since 1999. Through these years of design I have done a number of paintings and drawings. I moved to Cape Town in November 2010 and have decided to focus more on fine art than design.

At the beginning of 2011, I decided to create a calendar for 2012 showcasing my drawings of birds. This calendar was endorsed by BirdLife South Africa.
