Jacques Viljoen was born in Cape Town, South Africa, in 1988. He completed a BA in Fine Art at The University of Cape Town, majoring in painting before moving to London, UK. Disillusioned with the art world, Viljoen worked in the media for eight years before later returning to art after discovering the reemergence of representational and figurative art thanks to the internet and social media.
Viljoen’s love for 19th century painting lead him to Florence, Italy, where he studied drawing and painting at The Florence Academy of Art, until the Covid 19 Pandemic broke out. He now lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa.
