Mostly self-taught, Jan Ludik is a painter of abstract
pictures. He works in oil, gouache and pencil, making abstract collages
with mixed media and found objects.
Jan Ludik studied fine art under Professor Walter Battiss through the
University of South Africa between 1966-68.
Between 1966-77 Jan created paintings of South End, Port Elizabeth.
From 1966 Jan has been a member of SAAA. He lived in Port Elizabeth between
1966-77 and thereafter in Cape Town. He visited Europe and the USA in
1980 and 1983.
Exhibitions:
First one-man exhibition in Port Elizabeth in 1967.
Partook in numerous national exhibitions from 1957 including Art South
Africa Today in Durban in 1973, South Africa exhibition in 1976
Held several exhibitions in Cape Town since 1977.
