JOAN SCHRAUWEN
Born in Kimberley in 1940
  Portfolio

A painter and graphic artist of landscapes, still life, flora, fauna and abstract pictures. Works in oil, watercolour, ink, wash, pencil, charcoal and in various graphic media. Creates collages. 1983 "Veld" series I-xv, Frankfurt, West Germany; 1985 "Riverside" series I-IX, Houston, Texas, USA; "Wetlands" I-IX, Switzerland.

STUDIES

1959-61 University of the Orange Free State; 1984-85 graphics under Sue Williamson ( qv).

PROFILE

From 1982 a member of the SAAA. 1972-78 a potter in raku stoneware; 1985 papermaking and etching. 1966-68 lived in Jeffreys Bay, Qape Province; 1968-71 in Windhoek, SWNNarnibia, thereafter in Cape Town. Grand­daughter of Tin us de J ongh ( qv).

EXHIBITIONS

1980 Grootmoddergat, Cape Town, first of c.10 solo exhibitions; has participated in several group exhibitions from 1982 in SA.
