"I am excited by the experimental side of everyday experiences and interpreting this in a visual way.

As far as I remember I have always drawn, painted or wrote.  It is what I make of the world around me and translating it in a way.

My approach to art is to find the usual and the unusual often moving from the real to the imaginary, the realistic to the abstract.  This enables me to give a realistic approach to my immediate world and is the reason why I was interested for example in District 6 and the surrounding area, as well as a more reflective and experimental approach especially in my graphic works.

I use a varied form of expression in technique and medium as I paint, print and write. I studied printmaking in London and have had solo print exhibitions in both London and South Africa, the latest being in 2013 at Imbizo Galley Durban.

My work can be found in various private collections in South Africa, the UK and Europe." - Juli Jana
