Kevin Stanley’s impressionist canvasses reflect the colourful richness of nature, bringing the outside to interiors with the portrayal of seascapes for ‘waterside and beach living’, or the fundamental ‘country-look’ of vast Karoo horizons.
He has lived and farmed in the Karoo, where he was influenced by the scale of the horizon and ‘miniaturisation’ of man. His love of beach scenes comes from the life and light of the coast as he is spiritually inspired by the elements.
Kevin was a Johannesburg-based art dealer before moving to Cape Town where he started ‘live art’ and classes at Artemia in Pinelands. He then opened Hout Bay Gallery in 1986. He has owned successful galleries in the UK and is still represented by others there.
