INFLUENCES AND INSPIRATION
Rhode aims to put his thoughts and visions into the conscious world through
his art. His creativity is an expression of the spirit or, as he says,
“light” within him.
Rhodes was born of a mixed marriage. His father left his mother with
10 children. Now that he is older he has gained persective on the resons
his father left. He reflects his father must have felt mis-understood
by the community. Richard has memories of him being a gentle, intellegent
man who didn’t like to eating tinned food and enjoyed listening
to Nat King Cole.
He recalls his mother spent many hours in the garden planting, no matter
what the weather. She woke up in the early hours of the morning to catch
snails.
His family was not very rich but he recalls there were always people
coming into the house to help out and look after the children.
Rhodes finds inspiration in the perfection he sees in nature where decay
gives rise to new growth. His other interests are music, meditation and
reading the holy scroll. He has completed a number of workshops and is
dedicated and consistent with his art.
