STATEMENT

"I am a "figurative fine artist" living and
working in a home studio gallery space. In my work, I combine the visual, technical and conceptual.

Making marks go beyond just being a technical exercise, but making visible the character of the person portrayed.

It is the actual act of drawing, of making pencil marks alive, of pulling and pushing the person into a a living space, TO MAKE THE ACTUAL LINES SAY SOMETHING that forces you, the viewer to look at the figure and to see not just a person but something intangible.

The works are characterized by good
draughtsmanship and a mixed technique of graphite, water pencils and acrylic.

My drawings are larger than life size which
gives them a monumentality while
simultaneously incorporating strong emotive elements. The visual impact of that duality
within a single image cannot be appreciated without seeing the actual work .. "
