Sheree Harrison hails from the Eastern Cape, where
she studied Fine Art at Rhodes University.
After working in Durban for a few years as an artist on several magazines
she moved to Johannesburg. There she worked as an art director in advertising
for a large retail clothing group. Sheree later began a business in paint
finishes and murals in the domestic and commercial markets. Throughout
this time she continued to paint canvases. In 2002 she relocated to Cape
Town where she now paints and co-manages an artist’s canvas business.
The Eastern Cape lifestyle and landscapes have continued to influence
Sheree’s work, typified by the series of Transkei cattle on the
beach. The new Western Cape surroundings have inspired diverse fynbos
landscapes.
“I am a South African, inspired by the starkly different landscapes
against which I’ve made my home, by our many-nuanced culture, by
our newness – by our promise.”
