These small works measuring approximately 15 cm sq encapsulate the wisdom in life. Patrick has made 500 editions of each of the linocuts.

Price: R 500 each

For Patrick it is a lively dialogue offering advice to be heeded. The recognition of some of the time honored taboos. A gift, a comfort or caution.

To write a literal transcription of his 'proverbs' is as illusive as catching a dove by the tail feathers. These gestures to peaceful coexistence are rich in association and sentiment that do not translate quickly into words. Within the black frame work all is animated: the figures emphatically engrossed in the 'plot', the 'sympathetic analogy' of the action radiating to the immediate surroundings. The little huts seem to 'gasp', trees cluster, strain and reach, roads journey through the landscape. Some of the works are humorous, some desperately tragic.

The economic use of line and simplicity of form conveys the message succinctly.
Naïve Art is a rare disclosure. Patrick's work is naïve in the best sense - he has the perception to strike a chord in everyman.
